2010 Alberta Buddhist Conference - October 29-31, 2010 in Calgary

The 32^nd Annual Alberta Buddhist Conference (ABC) will be held during the same time period as the Calgary Buddhist Film Series as well as in conjunction with the Alberta District 750^th Shinran Shonin Memorial Commemoration - definitely a busy weekend!  

Conference is open to the Public - Registration is Required (deadline is Oct 15)

•  Fred Ulrich Sensei of the Manitobe Buddhist Temple will open the Conference with a talk on Engaged Buddhism from a Jodo Shinshu perspective.

•  Rod Burylo, of the Calgary Buddhist Temple, and an internationally known speaker, will deliver a talk and interactive session on Ethical Investing.

•  Tracey Pickup of Thich Nhat Hanh's 'Order of Interbeing' will deliver a talk and interactive session on Engaged Buddhism.

•  Socho Fujikawa will perform a Sarana Affirmation Ceremony on Sunday for those indicating a wish to take part.

•  Local artists will be highlighted in our conference areas.

•  Saturday banquet at the Regency Palace restaurant in Chinatown.

Costs:

•  Attending the complete Conference is $60. Lunch and Banquet are included.

•  Attending the Saturday banquet only is $30.

•  Attending the Film Festival films - by donation.

Friday, Oct 29 – 6-6:30pm: Registration; 6:30pm: Film and/or Social at the Calgary Public Library Main Branch (John Dutton Theatre) - 616 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary

Saturday, Oct 30 – 9-9:30am: Registration; 9:30am: speakers, a variety of break-out sessions and films at the Calgary Public Library (children and youth programs are in the works!)

                Banquet – 6:00pm: Cash Bar and meal at Regency Restaurant (China Town)

Sunday, Oct 31 – 9:30am: Sarana Ceremony; 10:30am: Service and lunch to follow at the Temple
