DESCRIPTION:Hōonkō observes the memorial/passing of our founder Shinran Shonin (1173-1262) in Kyoto\, Japan. \nIn the word hōonkō; ‘hōon’ means “return of gratitude” and ‘ko’ means “to clarify the meaning of” or “gathering”‘. \nAll of our services are open to everyone and no prior knowledge or experience with Buddhism is necessary. \nThe services are conducted in English with the exception of some chanting. \nService books are provided so that everyone can participate in these traditional\, centuries old chants. \n
