Everyone is welcome to attend the Family (Father’s Day) Picnic on Sunday, June 18 from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm at Edworthy Park – site#2. Note that there will be NO meditation nor Sunday Service this day at the Temple.
It has been a few years since we’ve been able to hold this event so it’ll be great to get together again for a picnic with family and friends. A short service is typically held at 11:30 am then join us for some games, camaraderie and of course, sunshine. Pack a lunch and be ready to share as it usually ends up being a potluck affair.
Hope to have many people come out and enjoy time together – rain or shine.
The Temple is organizing a fundraising event on Saturday, June 10th from 9:00 am to noon creating delicious handmade gyoza which will then be frozen and sold in bags of a dozen. We would like to ask for volunteers to help make these gyoza and support this fundraiser for the temple! This is a great opportunity to learn how to make gyoza plus spend time getting to know fellow sangha members.
As always, thank you for your support.

Sleeping Tigers is a feature-length documentary, made in 2003, tells the story of the Asahi baseball team. This team became a symbol of the Japanese Canadian struggle for equality and respect, and despite being disbanded and interned, left a legacy of inspiration for future generations of all Canadians. This remarkable story is told with a combination of archival footage, interviews, and dramatic re-enactments.
Light refreshments will generously be provided by a grant from the Calgary Nikkei Cultural Fund and the Calgary Japanese Community Association. Let’s come together and make this afternoon educational, engaging and enjoyable for all!
