will be on the chant Shoshinge (Hymn of True Entrusting Heart). Shoshinge is the central chanting ritual in Jodo Shinshu Buddhism, composed by the founder Shinran Shonin (1173-1263).
It expresses the essence of Shinran’s understanding of the Pure Land Path and the Nembutsu (Namo Amida Butsu). These lectures are on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:00pm at the Temple.
September:
Lecture 1 – Introduction to Shoshinge (Sep 9)
Lecture 2 – Amida Buddha’s Vow (Sep 16)
Lecture 3 – Great Compassion (Sep 23)
November – Studying Shoshinge:
Lecture 4 – Nov 11
Lecture 5 – Nov 18
Lecture 6 – Nov 23
Hi there.
Thank you. What day of the week an time of the day are these lectures taking place? I couldn’t find info in the website.
Regards.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The dates aren’t on the posting but they are on the Calendar but it should have been both places to make it easier to find. These are held on Tuesdays – this post will be updated shortly.
