Ho-onko Service
January 13, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Hōonkō observes the memorial/passing of our founder Shinran Shonin (1173-1262) in Kyoto, Japan.
In the word hōonkō; ‘hōon’ means “return of gratitude” and ‘ko’ means “to clarify the meaning of” or “gathering”‘.
All of our services are open to everyone and no prior knowledge or experience with Buddhism is necessary.
The services are conducted in English with the exception of some chanting.
Service books are provided so that everyone can participate in these traditional, centuries old chants.
