Team Oneness!

Saturday, June 25, 2022

Despite rain in the forecast, the sun shone kindly on Sunday, June 12th so the Calgary Buddhist Temple team was able to come together in-person rather than virtually. They completed a 5K walk/roll in support of women’s mental health programs at Calgary Health Foundation by participating in the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart™ Run for Women.

The run celebrates the strength and courage of women across the country, while supporting those who need it the most in our community.

Congratulations to “Calgary Buddhist Temple – Oneness!” and a huge “thank you” to all the super supporters, for raising almost $550 which is fantastic!

Overall, the Run for Women in Calgary raised over $171,000 for local women’s mental health programs.  We truly are stronger together!

“All Things Japanese”

Saturday, April 09, 2022
by

As part of the 2022 Calgary Japanese Festival Omatsuri taking place in Calgary on Saturday, August 13, the Calgary Buddhist Temple will once again have our famous “All Things Japanese” table where we’ll be selling Japanese knick knacks and items.  Our table is the busiest in the marketplace with people standing in line to acquire their new treasures.  In order to fill these tables, we are request donations from our membership of Japanese items.  Many of these items come from families that are downsizing or have come into these items from their parents or relatives.

If you would like to find a new home for any Japanese items in your possession where they will be greatly loved, please consider donating those items to the Temple.  Donations can be picked up by one of our excellent volunteers.  If you have any questions, would like to make a donation, or arrange for items to be picked up or dropped off, please contact Dan McCormack at dan37mcc@gmail.com.

The Temple appreciates your support of this fundraiser!

Our Gratitude to Breath

Friday, April 01, 2022
by

Sunday, May 15th, 2022 @ 1pm MDT – Presenter:  Sensei Tanis Moore

Join the Sangha for this 90 minute online workshop with Sensei Tanis Moore of the Manitoba Buddhist Temple.  Breath: Our connection to life – Breathing in, breathing out, this repeated about 25,000 times per day, and yet we most often take it for granted.  It’s only when an illness causes us to realize the preciousness of breath, that we realize this connection to all living beings.  Every breath we take has been shared with other people, animals, and birds and trees.  Our gratitude to breath.

We will discuss the anatomy of breathing, do some breathing exercises and become aware of the movement of breath through our bodies, and how it can bring awareness, relaxation and healing to various parts of our bodies.
